I am trying to shoot enough people of different races and ages to make a composite portrait of the human race – in water – I would love to add your expression in the mind as water gallery – please contact me me with the date you’d like to become a part of this fine art exhibit raising funds for water development in Africa. Connect here or on Facebook and schedule a time.
Thanks for allowing me to make your portrait in the Mind As Water project!
Now that you have invested your time with me to make these pictures
please these instructions in sharing your images on Facebook
to create value for the project and awareness around the world.
One of the long term fundraising goals of this project is to interest corporate
sponsors for our gallery exhibits. One of the key value factors we wish to provide
is a rich community of socially aware and globally conscious participants.
That’s you!
So let me guide you through the process to help ensure that the most people are exposed
to your image in the process. Facebook tracks the impressions of people viewing, liking
and sharing things from our page. The most powerful step we can ask of you is to ‘share’ your image into your own timeline. This image shows you where you’ll find the ‘share’ link
under the photo(s).
And that will do it, so let’s take a look at my media strategy for impact and reach over time. Timing is key. The first image will be uploaded to the event page gallery in which you participated.
Please share the first image posted into your own timeline.
The second image of you will be uploaded to the group photo gallery 1-3 days later.
Please share the second image into one of your friend’s timelines and give a personal testimony.
To share the image onto a friend’s timeline, mention how much fun you had in the shoot
or how you’re supporting water development in Uganda through this project,
and suggest they get involved with a portrait, a donation, or just awareness.
They will receive a tax deductible receipt from the Ugandan Water Project after their secure checkout online.
You have catapulted our message beyond those who I reach personally in the photographic experience.
I hope you encourage your friends to think of positive water solutions, and give to those
in the world for whom solutions are just out of reach. When we give, they will be able to reach
new successes in their lives and become sustainable communities.

Suggested text to accompany your photos:
TAO 8
The highest form of goodness is like water.
Water knows how to benefit all things without striving with them.
It stays in places loathed by all men.
Therefore, it comes near the Tao.
TAO 43
The softest of all things
Overrides the hardest of all
Only Nothing can enter in to no-space.
TAO 8
The best of man is like water,
Which benefits all things, and does not contend with them,
Which flows in places that others disdain,
Where it is in harmony with the Way.
TAO 43
Water overcomes the stone;
Without substance it requires no opening;
This is the benefit of taking no action.
I contemplate my impact on the world and wish to be as soft as water, and as life giving
It is a fact that over 860 million people, that’s one in eight, do not have access to safe water. Every day they scavenge for this basic human need.
3.7 miles
On average, people in the developing world walk 3.7 miles (about 6K) per day to collect water for basic needs.
8x Benefit
Research indicates for every $1 invested in sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene returns $8 of increased productivity and decreased health care costs.
36 new people have seen the imagery – and thought about water today because of my twitter posts.
That’s a small success – however our facebook page is reporting this statistic: Weekly Total Reach: 668-24.09%
Would you consider mentioning @Mind As Water in your facebook status, or suggesting a verse from the Tao Te Ching and post it to your friend’s wall. I try to use facebook for something more than just asking questions, but sharing thoughts, information and life
Post something to add a thoughtful and artistic element to your friend’s day:
All of these actions well help this project go from concept to full scale presentation in gallery spaces around the country this year. An active and participating group of Facebook users is helpful to gallery managers who are curating proposals for their gallery. So thank you for your participation!
Turtle Love Co. has partnered with WaterAid America to offer beautiful and affordable gifts with real global impact. For each piece of Clean Water jewelry purchased, Turtle Love Co. will contribute $30 to WaterAid, enough to provide a person with life-long access to clean water and sanitation. “We at WaterAid are delighted to have the support of Turtle Love Co.,” announced David Winder, CEO of WaterAid America. “These gifts from Turtle Love Co. will also mean a lifesaving gift for a family in need – clean water.”
The clear lampwork glass droplets dangling from a sterling silver chain or earring are deeply symbolic, and the jewelry is exceptionally versatile. “I love wearing these pieces, and I’m really proud of the contribution that Turtle Love Co. is making WaterAid,” noted Adrianne Zahner, the founder of Turtle Love Co.

The Way bears sensation,
Sensation bears memory,
Sensation and memory bear abstraction,
And abstraction bears all the world;
Each thing in the world bears feeling and doing,
And, imbued with mind, harmony with the Way.
As others have taught, so do I teach,
“Who loses harmony opposes nature”;
This is the root of my teaching.
Mind As Water thanks to Laura Patterson for the new cover image!
